Is ChatCut a DaVinci Resolve alternative?

For fast, everyday edits, yes: you describe the video and the agent makes it. For deep color grading and finishing, Resolve is stronger, and you can send a ChatCut timeline to Resolve as XML.

Can I open a ChatCut edit in DaVinci Resolve?

Yes. ChatCut exports an XML timeline that Resolve imports with your cuts in place. Captions, motion graphics and some effects may need to be rebuilt or rendered first.

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Can I use ChatCut from Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

How the plugin works

Where does ChatCut run?

ChatCut Desktop runs on macOS 13 or newer and Windows 10 or newer, and the web app runs in a desktop browser at app.chatcut.io. There is no native phone app, and Linux is not supported.
