## Turn the first draft into your video

Direct the specific fixes your explainer or product ad needs, with editable footage, captions and graphics in ChatCut.

### Keep the product footage you chose

When generated shots miss your product, ask ChatCut to build the promo around your supplied screenshots and recordings.

## Use ChatCut from your agent

Paste one prompt into Claude Code or Codex. It installs ChatCut and starts the edit.

### Claude Code

Build an explainer from approved assets

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then make a 45-second product explainer from my approved script, screenshots and recordings, use only those visuals, add narration and captions, and keep titles editable.

### Codex

Fix a mismatched scene and pronunciation

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then open my ChatCut product video, replace the second scene with my supplied product clip, correct the product name in the voiceover and captions, and preserve the other scenes.

## ChatCut vs Invideo FAQ

Is ChatCut an Invideo alternative?

Yes. Both offer AI generation, agent editing on an editable timeline, and connections to Claude Code and Codex. ChatCut is a fit if you want Mac or Windows desktop editing alongside a web app; Invideo also offers phone apps.

Is Invideo only a prompt-to-video generator?

No. Invideo Editor supports uploaded footage, agent edits and manual changes on a multitrack timeline. ChatCut also combines generation with timeline editing, so compare the workflows for your actual footage rather than assuming Invideo only produces finished clips.

Is ChatCut free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Can I use ChatCut from Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

Can I finish a ChatCut edit in another editor?

Yes. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and ChatCut Desktop also exports editable CapCut drafts. It does not export Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML).
