## Build a repeatable creator workflow

Give ChatCut your episode brief and let its agent handle the cuts, captions, graphics and language versions.

### Turn retakes into a clean story

Ask ChatCut to choose your strongest takes, remove repeated lines and shape a concise creator update in one pass.

[Try Speech Cleanup](https://pr-821-preview.chatcut.dev/skills/speech-cleanup)

### Reuse your caption brief

Ask ChatCut to caption each talking-head episode with the same readable type, emphasis and safe margins.

[Try Add captions](https://pr-821-preview.chatcut.dev/skills/add-captions)

### Give spoken ideas a visual explanation

Ask ChatCut to turn your tutorial into an explainer with editable diagrams and callouts timed to your narration.

[Try Editorial Explainer](https://pr-821-preview.chatcut.dev/skills/motion-graphics?template=mg-packaging-editorial-explainer)

### Keep each language version on brief

## Use ChatCut from your agent

Paste one prompt into Claude Code or Codex. It installs ChatCut and starts the edit.

### Claude Code

Polish a creator update

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then turn my talking-head takes into a 45-second creator update, remove repeated lines and filler words, and add captions using my brand colors.

### Codex

Localize a product review

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then make a Spanish version of my product review with dubbed speech and matching captions, keeping product names unchanged and adding an editable closing callout.

## ChatCut vs Captions FAQ

Is ChatCut a Captions alternative?

Yes, especially if you want to run your creator workflow through Claude Code or Codex and reuse editing skills across episodes. Both tools support prompt-based editing, captions, dubbing and AI-generated footage; Captions also offers native phone apps.

Can Captions also edit videos using prompts?

Yes. Captions supports chat-based changes on iOS and web, including multi-step requests; its web editor can also create custom motion graphics. ChatCut adds a documented plugin and local MCP route for editing from Claude Code or Codex.

Is ChatCut free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Can I use ChatCut from Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

Can I finish a ChatCut edit in another editor?

Yes. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and ChatCut Desktop also exports editable CapCut drafts. It does not export Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML).
